It's no secret that I've been a fan of Propellerheads (the makers of Reason, Recycle etc) software for years. I am really excited to say that I am now a proud, official endorsee and am really excited to become more involved with the brand. The first thing we've put together for you guys is a patch chart with five custom patches I put together. Those of you who have been having trouble figuring out the website will be able to download at least one of the combinator patches here too! Without any further ado, here's the link – Download Patches off the Propellerheads.se website!

I got a message from Lady Sovereign's tour DJ, Annalyze for an interesting opportunity. Sov's management was looking for a remix for Her new album "Jigsaw" which has just come out recently on her own imprint "Midget Records". The track is called "Pennies". The original, is like a hip-hop / electronic-ish kinda hybrid track. It is aggressive and has a filtered drum'n'bass kinda hoover sounding bassline. So given my drum'n'bass background some of you are familiar with, it instantly appealed to me.
What made this remix opportunity interesting, was that they wanted a "hip-hop" remix. I have a huge passion for hip-hop that ranges back to just about a far as I can remember. I've always messed around with hip-hop production, but never really had an outlet to push it. So needless to say, I said yes! I don't really expect to do much production like this on a regular basis under the Kill The Noise name, well, cause KTN is a more uptempo house/electro project! I actually struggled for a bit to figure out whether or not releasing this under KTN made any sense. Eventually I decided that, because it is the most active project I have at the moment, it would probably have the most reach being pushed thru this avenue. I figured it would be a fun quirky little easter egg for those that are paying attention.
I actually played quite a bit of guitar on the track as well, and used Guitar rig 3 for a lot of the processing. So we got one part british female MC, one part 808 dirty south drum programming, and one part heavy guitar processing. Sounds like a mess, but I spent a few days making it work. The results are something like a mix between, hmm, well I dunno I guess I'll let you be the judge!
So, it's been a while since the last update here, but to be honest, I've kinda been holding off till the new year to get things situated. First off, I want to say THANK YOU to all you guys and girls for supporting my music (and me!) over the past year. It's hard to believe this started just over a year ago! The shows have been awesome, it's been great meeting new people, traveling thru your neighborhoods, and forging new friendships! It's a privilege and I remind myself everyday of that!
The downside to all of this is that the Kill The Noise project has grown so much and so quickly it's forced me to put a lot of my other projects on hold, i.e. EWUN & LUDACHRIST. I get both heartfelt and sarcastic remarks periodically, both on the internets and IRL from angry drum'n'bass people and people who are demanding another Ludachrist mix. So for the record, I just started working out in the gym, cut my smoking down A LOT (i barely smoke anymore) and plan to cut my drinking down quite a bit this year (...this one might be tough) This is all in an effort to increase my level of health so I can sleep less so I can work more on all of these projects equally. I'm trying! SRSLY!! In fact, I've already scheduled half of February to fly out to Los Angeles for a non-stop-all-out-Ludachrist-a-thon studio session with Knick.
Anyway, after what has seemed to be a never ending holiday season, I am sinking back into studio world to work on what is going to be perhaps my most ambitious effort to date. I don't wanna give away too much but I am starting work on an album of 100% original material, and many collaborations with some familiar faces.
In conclusion, I gotta leave you guys with some kinda reward for reading thru all that rambling. Here's something I managed to put together over the past coupla weeks. It's a remix of a brooklyn based group called "The Retro Kidz". The name of the track is called "New Era". I'm really feelin' what they are doin' for one main reason: because they are having fun. Besides the fact that musically I like what I'm hearing, it's about the attitude and the energy. I think it's easy for people to forget that we are all supposed to be having fun. Nothings worse than DJ's or producers, or whatever... people in general, who analyze shit till it loses all it's flavor. Or getting caught up being jaded or an elitist. That kind of attitude really leads down a dead end in life I think. That's another resolution on my behalf, to try and have more fun. Work can be fun too! Anyway big shouts to, Junior Sanchez, and the Retro Kidz (and management!) for signing off on this remix! Also be sure to check out the record label's official blog here: Brobotlife.com!
I just finished this thing up about 2 weeks ago. I've been on the road so I haven't had the time or the internet bandwidth to get this up on the blog. Big thanks to Vega for allowing me the opportunity to be a part of this new project. You guys may recognize him from a past project called "Ghost Hustler", which I was/am still a fan of I might add! Keep an eye out for more collaboration efforts between the two of us, as well as his EP which is set to come out on Vouge College Records, along with my remix of course!
